Fish Like a Redneck

I'm sure if you are reading this then you are pretty familiar with the area that I live in and I'm sure that you have already heard about the Redneck Fishing Tournament in Bath, IL. If you haven't .... well now you have been enlightened!!! It is such a hoot!!! It originally began to try and make the best of a bad situation that is happening in the Illinois River. It started out just local people and has now grown to include people from all over the country. It's hard to believe that so many people travel to Bath, Il. just to hang out with a bunch of crazy drunk people "fishing" in the Illinois River. Now at this fishing tournament... fishing poles are not necessary... most people use nets... although I did see several boats with bows... not sure if they actually use those or not. Anyway, they are after those nasty flying Asian Carp that are all over the river. They get big... they are slimy... and all they do are make me worry about my children whenever we take them on the river...which is not my favorite place to boat (at least not with the kids)!! We've been out before and had the kids in the tube behind the boat and you can see the stupid things fly up behind them... kind of scary really... they get so big that if they hit a child they could probably kill them. Anyway, we attended on Friday just to take the kids to the kids fishing tournament. It was a nice little set-up. Every kid got a prize... either a fishing pole or tackle box... plus they gave them a free hot dog and soda. Everyone there was super friendly and it was so much fun to watch all the people. We were going to go on Sat. but Brent had yet another rifle match so our plans changed. However, the kids and I did go for a little while on Sat.... no fun party time for me... but yet another chance to "people watch". Next year.... I don't know how... but I am definately "fishing"!!!! Although... we think we will have to rent a jon boat.... our boat just wouldn't fit in down there!!!! And the kids... will be staying with grandma!!!!!

15 min. later... the kids tired of fishing and would rather go swimming in the river in their clothes. I'll be better prepared next year and just have them wear their swimsuits!

Now the diaper guys playing with the fish!!!!!! I also have a picture of this guy falling out of the boat after goofing off a little too much!!!! The best part was when his diaper fell off while trying to get on the boat... good thing they weren't too close to the shore!

Be prepared if you decide to attend this event... there's a lot of interesting folks that live on the Illinois River!!! I think it's love for this guy!
