Cold and Wet

Every Memorial Day weekend we go camping in Iowa at Rathbun Lake with some friends! Why? Good question considering it rains EVERY time!!! This weekend was no exception... in fact... it was probably the wettest of them all! Friday night was sooooo cold I didn't sleep the whole night... I was absolutely miserable and I was getting a cold on top of it all!!! We did survive however... it was only two nights... and finally on Sunday we got to go out on the boat for an hour or two... but it was a little on the chilly side!

This is Friday night..... it was sooooo cold.... here is Pappy keeping warm over the grill!!!!! Hey...whatever works!


Raegan and I trying to get warm in the truck.... as the rain just keeps coming down!!! It rained and rained for hours!!!!!! Everything in our tent got wet!!!


Not sure if you can see what is going on here... but Brent was trying to get Pappy pulled out of the mud... then he got stuck too!!!! Therefore... Jeff had to pull them both out of the mud... all three trucks are connected together!!!! This is even after Jeff had already pulled our truck out of the mud once before!!!! The ground was soooo muddy you couldn't even hardly walk on it without sinking!!!

It was kind of a miserable weekend but we survived!!! Sunday night we stayed at the hotel in Fairfield because Brent had to be there for the Memorial Day ceremony on Monday morning. It was good to be inside!!! However, it ended up being kind of sad because one of the girls in his guard unit had an aunt pass away in the tornados. It was a little sureal.... her husband came out to tell one of the other guys that they had to leave that they had a family member pass away. I felt so terrible for her.... she was in such shock... as anyone would be.... such terrible destruction that went on up there!!!
